Well it's Saturday, and a break in the action for XH558 on the airshow circuit this weekend, but some excellent news that two more appearances have been booked in, with confirmation that she'll be appearing at Southport on Saturday 23rd July, and also at Goodwood next Sunday, which means the Vulcan will take off from Waddington, then to display at Goodwood before returning straight into the display at Waddo.
There were some rumours about the Vulcan not having a Permit to Fly over the Waddington weekend, well sources have confirmed that the new PTF is scheduled to be confirmed in midweek prior to the departure to waddington, which takes place on Thursday 30th June, with the Vulcan crew arriving and displaying at the Waddington Airshow Press Day, so an extra treat for those in the Lincoln area that day!
Now, back to the top 10 Vulcan videos that I'm showcasing during the build up to the Waddington Airshow, and here is today's effort, which is a throwback to the good old displays of 1992, and this one was filmed at Church Fenton, I'm loving this video, not many howls it has to be said, but it's worth the watch just to sit back and enjoy the many aspects of the old display - many would of course love to see today's display as dynamic - but I think we can all appreciate why that's not possible!
One extra point to note on the video, is when the Delta Lady taxis back down the runway, there is almost a wink from the Vulcan, of course it's a glint of sunshine but it just seems to be the aircraft winking to the crowd (around the 8:40 mark).

Top 10 Vulcan Videos - Day 3
So, to the third day of the top ten Vulcan videos, and another corker for today, hope you like the choice!
Cast your minds back to RIAT 2009, and after the relief of the airshow going ahead after the previous year's washout, XH558 made her return to the skies over Fairford, and in front of nearly 100,000 signalled perhaps a collective rubbing of hips - after all everyone seemed to get out of their seats when they saw the Vulcan preparing for take off, and commanding everyone's attention for the display.
Saturday was the dry but windy day, and that's the day that I saw the display, but on the Sunday the weather changed for the worse, and it was looking doubtful that there would be a Vulcan display with the weather closing in, but just like that the rain held off just when the Delta Lady was due to fill the skies, and cue the take off...
That is what the day 3 video is all about, the dampened crowd were to be served up a treat with a stunning take off that saw a wing over that simply looked like the Vulcan had turned upside down - it must have had everyone talking on the day, now obviously it didn't go upside down, but how looks can be deceiving hey?

Winter Service complete!
Great news from the Vulcan appeared on Friday, when it was announced that the Winter Service had been completed with great success - and now the next step is getting ready for the airshow season!
There is of course the small matter of £350,000 to raise, and the team are calling on the public to back the latest campaign - of course it's the public that have saved the Vulcan on many occasions previously, but the reward for all those who have donated previously is the sight of the beautiful XH558 rip roaring through the skies at airshow venues around the UK in the summer - there can be no better reward.
The Winter Service was completed with flying colours, which included the testing of the engines last week, and the lucky residents around RAF Lyneham would have heard the dulcet tones screaming through the trees signalling the return of the Delta Lady!
It's time then to look forward, and soon the Vulcan will leave its current base for a new home, rumoured to be RAF Coltishall in Norfolk, although RAF Wittering has also been mentioned, so we await to see where she ends up in the not too distant future - in fact, it's set to be at the end of March, so not long now.
It's also not long now until the Airshow season gets underway, and already RAF Cosford have booked the Vulcan, and will be hopeful of getting the first glimpse of her at a UK airshow this season.
The Summer Season Plaque campaign is now underway, and for a modest £5.58 per month, your name can appear in the Bomb Bay doors, alongside the Winter Service Plaque that was created over the last few months, so this is a new exciting opportunity to get involved if you missed out previously. The Vulcan has kept herself in the news too with a visit from the Chelsea Pensioners last week, great to see that these veterans get to meet up with another veteran - albeit one that ways around 30 tonnes!!!
So, all eyes will now start to focus on the Participation Lists of various airshows, in the hope that they will be close enough to travel to a major venue near them to see the famous howl of the Vulcan - sadly I'm based in the North West, who unfortunately don't get to see her that often, so hopefully there will be more appearances up North than ever before this year, as we're all desperate to see her, and you lucky folk in the south just don't realise how lucky you actually are!
In the words of Dale Winton (with the exception of a word or two)....Bring on the Vulcan!

Cosford first date for the Vulcan
Well we were all wondering where we'd see the Vulcan's name first, and on Friday the news broke that the first Airshow to book XH558 is indeed RAF Cosford on June 12th - great news!
Hopefully this will be the first of many bookings in a year where the Vulcan team have promised to take her to more and more venues, hopefully funds will permit that to happen as the more people that see this famous aircraft the better!
Unfortunately last year the Cosford Airshow came too soon for the Delta Lady to be ready for, as she was obviously undergoing the major service following the appeal to raise funds, so hopefully this year all things will go okay and on time, and Shropshire will roar to the sound of the Vulcan.
The latest update from the Vulcan team explains how the CAA are giving the aircraft the once over, and probably twice over too, as the Permit to Fly regulations are checked out, to make sure the team are complying with all the terms and conditions!
Anyway, just a short one this week, to delight in the news that the shows are starting to book the one and only Vulcan Bomber!

The Vulcan Display at RIAT 2009
One of the highlights of the airshow season is the Royal international Air Tattoo, and this year's was keenly awaited thanks to two things, the cancellation of 2008's show thanks to the weather, and the fact that the Vulcan was making it's return to RIAT at Fairford.
XH558 didn't disappoint either, with a fantastic display on both days of the show, with the clouds staying in the distance on Day 1, and on Day 2 the rain just held off in time for it's Display.
It was certainly a mammoth take off for the Vulcan, which looked almost like it was flying upside down at one stage, obviously it wasn't, but it was pretty close!
The modern day display may not come close to the displays of the past, but that is fair enough, due to the limited time on the airframe, but it still does quite enough to stop everyone in their tracks, the sheer sight of the Vulcan bomber is enough to make everyone stop what they are doing.
On a personal note, I am counting down the days until XH558 makes its appearance at Hawarden next Saturday (5th September) as long as the weather holds and is serviceable of course.
It's been a good couple of decades since the area was treated to a Vulcan display, but those memories will all come flooding back if the Delta Lady turns up to delight all once again!
Next up is a weekend full of displays, as it heads to Silverstone on Saturday, then off to Dunsfold, Uffington, and Romsey on Sunday. Fingers crossed it manages each display.
